Model of the month: Gisele Bundchen

Thursday, 28 February 2008

Cashing in a whooping $33 million last year it was inevitable that she would get some exposure here. This month’s model is none other than Brazilian model extraordinaire Gisele Bundchen. With her endless portfolio of magazine covers and advertising campaigns she is today’s biggest super model. She isn’t a dumb one either and seems to be aware of how lucrative the industry can be for a model with her status. Last year she parted ways with Victoria’s Secret because they wouldn’t meet her new salary demands, not only that, but she is rumored to have begun rejecting America’s monopoly money, aka the US dollar, in favor of the more powerful Euro. Gotta give her a high five for the later one because as she approaches 30 her bum will get soggy and before she knows it, she will be considered “old”, so I’m fully supporting this Brazilian in her hustle to get those millionz while she can.

British men might be the blame for why she’s not begging to get paid in old mighty sterling pound instead or euro. Apparently she has cold heartedly said in the media that she dislike British men. She might have been put off during a high profile event by some 42 years old investment banker pulling dry Monty Python jokes. OR Gisele has simply not been charmed by Jeremy Clarkson’s ruthless honesty, Chef Ramsey’s cursing or James Blunt’s child-like voice. In the end all those three, including me pale in comparison to her type of guys…..you know…….like Leonardo Dicaprio or her latest catch, New England Patriot’s(Go Patriots!!!) super quarterback Tom Brady(three time super bowl winner)! Life seem to be greener on the other side of the Atlantic, for her at least, but I can't blame her for being picky. Her body has divine powers strong enough to turn a nun into a lesbian, a really panty wetter. Even with short hair Gisele’s seductiveness is as strong as gravity. Grrrrr!!

street style, fashionable, style, trendy

Doing my quarterly routine maintenance of images and folder I came across pictures I took on Friday. A few weeks I ago I finally took the step and bought my first camera, a Cannon IXUS 70. So far I love it, it’s barely takes 1.5sec to fire it up and quickly snap a shot. The design itself is very appealing which is why I opt for it instead of the Sony which had the same price tag but came with 56 on board memory. If you’re looking for a good, affordable and stylish, party camera/all-rounder it’s worth checking this one out.

Anyhow on Friday I went along with two friends for an overpriced Chinese cuisine at Ping Pong. Since I live what I preach I unconsciously cooked up an outfit in the same spirit as “February’s outfit of the month”. I didn’t want to look like some of the business executives who visited the restaurant for some after work cocktails, so I went for a young and fresh appearance and topped it of with Bond. No 9’s Andy Warhol fragrance which commands a metallic, mystic but seductive odor.

street style, fashionable, style, trendy

And for the curious minds, the pictures were shot in my room. The pink walls were absolutely not a choice of mine but now when I have lived in the room for a few weeks I'm surprisingly warming up to them. They keep a happy aura in the room. Can't believe I' m saying this, but hey they are better than boring white/beige wallpapers common in most rooms.

The dinner itself was a pleasant experience although I was heavily let down by the interior décor of the restaurant which was black, white and minimalistic and lacked any form of Chinese decoration or spirit. We had half the Pacific Ocean on the plate with seafood like cod, squid, caviar, sea star including some other unidentifiable organisms which made me feel like I was eating an extraterrestrial. Next time my tongue is aching for cocktails I'll head over there again because they were splendid.

AW08/09: Trends

Sunday, 24 February 2008

The 90s fur glamor is back! AW08 was dominated by fur and skin from all sorts of animals from Noah’s ark. So when fall hits, and you want to show the world that you have small genitalia then get the biggest fur coat money can buy.

Vegetarians and animal friends must be outraged by the excessive use of fur. It’s not entire uncommon that some extremist pour a bucket of red paint on people wearing fur as if they were Fred Flintstone. Back in the days when humans were monkey-men with nothing but a canoe and a spear a big fur signified bravery, strength and honor.

Fast forwarding a few million years we humans have conquered earth and are able to shot down a spy satellite cruising in space 27 000km above sea level. That achievement itself shows makes fur coats pretty uncool, unless you are Hulk Hogan wearing fur from a Canadian grizzly bear strangled to death using your bare hands. Despite the social side of it I can’t see fur becoming popular again, fur is hideously expensive. Two years ago I saw a fur coat at Dior Homme at Harrods made out of fox fur priced at a jaw breaking 21 000 euro. May the slaughtered foxes rest in peace.

Equally as popular as fur designer have unanimously decided that the colours of leaves falling in autumn should correspond to the colours of our clothes. Usually the majority of AW collections come in no other colour but grey or black. This time brown, green and orange in earthly tones.

End of Chapter?

I’m certain that many of you have noticed the decline in posts the latest 14 days. Obviously I have, since I tend to feel deprived or almost concerned when I haven’t posted anything for 3 days. Either way there is a reason for my latest inactivity. Thoughts about shutting down the site have been circulating in my head lately. It’s not that I have suddenly found a new love like animals or indie music, my love for fashion hasn’t tainted and is still very strong.

Fashion is still my passion along with cars and gadgets/computers, but running a fashion blog is a hobby which is beginning to become less exciting. I’m very career hungry and have always been the type of person who likes challenges and quests. When I was a kid I loved playing with lego constructing building and houses, at the age of 10 I moved on to playing SimCity, Command & Conquer, Settlers and Warcraft. Eventually playing with those strategic games got boring and blogging is walking down the same path. At present time I’m in the mind for starting up my own company, joining a partnership with someone or becoming a part of a company which already exists. So that’s basically what I’m planning on devoting my spare time to.

Noting in life is forever and it’s inevitable that I have to close this chapter of my life. Let’s wait and see how I feel next week but right now I feel like writing another 4-5 entries and then pulling the plug.

men style blog

There’s nothing worse week kicking off with a rejection letter from an employee. This morning I felt a bit demoralized and heartbroken when scanning the first words of the letter reading “We’re sorry but at the moment we…….”. As a small patch on my wounded heart I just gobbled three waffles together with a Hägen-Dazs strawberry cheese cake flavored ice cream.

Now when I’m done with my plea for compassion and sentiment I want to talk about the picture above, which I found on Facebook lurking through one of my friend’s photos. The level of originality is high and it didn’t take more than 3-5 second for me to decide whether or not I should save it on my computer. Steel chair, young man, Ralph Lauren, country side, gravel road, jockey attire and a golden retriever. It doesn’t get more classic than that and the outfit this Swedish lad is wearing is very appealing as well, a vintage watch would make a cheery on top.

Some of my friend’s sometimes call me old fashioned and honestly I can say that I’m a traditionalist. We 21st century youngsters have great deal to learn from the past. This era of money and computers lacks the wisdom, philosophers and speakers which once existed. Just ask yourself when the last times was that you read or listen to something deep and mentally fulfilling.

Although you’re not here to read about cars the Bentley Brooklands is worth knowing off since it’s the gentlemen of luxury coupes. As my favorite old fashioned object this is one of the few cars on the market with tradition and heritage oozing inside and out. A few of 550 planned units are still for sale and if you’re quick your local VW dealer should with a few phone calls be able to allocate one of these marvelous creations for you.

Look of the month: February

Valentino SS08

Booked restaurant reservations trigger the dandy inside us men. Reservations make us shave, take a share and dig deep into our wardrobe for our finest ware. It might be the fact that we have grown up getting told not to step inside a restaurant sloppy or because proper restaurant visits are expensive, there’s just something about it which brings out the finest in us.

Typically most people tend to jump into their suit or a blazer for a more casual appearance. Unlike a job interview a restaurant visit isn’t formal, there’s a more glamorous side to it as a result of the money spending, alcohol and perhaps company in the form of human of the opposite sex. Therefore the typical white shirt + red/blue tie doesn’t cut it. This months outfit is an example of the perfect outfit for fancy dinning. Bordeaux coloured wool blazer, beige trunks and a black/white dotted shirt with a matching pocket square, is not example what the most guys have lying at home. It all comes together where nicely and it’s comfortable and casual as well thanks to the absence of a tie/box tie or sock for that matter.

Generally everything doesn’t have to match and often a playful shirt, pocket square and well designed cuff links is all that’s needed. Caution needs to be divas can easily over dress. One flamboyant piece is enough for a subtle but yet seductive outfit.

Lewis Hamilton, Tag Heuer, Museum

When your company has been around since before Christ and already have a huge headquarter, the next best thing to spend money on is a fancy museum. With a long and rich history Tag Heuer certainly have plenty of material to fill their new “Tag Heuer Museum 360” with.

Since Tag Heuer sponsor Mclaren-Mercedes it comes as no surprise that Tag Heuer wants to take full advantage of that by appointing wonder boy Lewis Hamilton their ambassador. Hamilton’s profession as a formula 1 driver improves the company racing image which is already strong thanks to Steven Mcqueen.

The new museum is high tech and reminds me of Bison’s office in Street fighter. 360 degrees of screen surrounds the inside of the main hall. Naturally all or most of the watches are on display along with memorabilia of their sponsored figures like Louis Koo, Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova. Tag Heuer is generally horny on super stars and will now begin to collect their autographs like Pokemon cards. Either way they have a lot going for them and some of their new watched have unique and revolutionary mechanics which can make any watch/engineering geek get multiple orgasms.

“This daring tridimensional museum celebrates TAG Heuer’s unrivalled sports heritage and constant quest for technical innovation and precision. Its dramatic architecture and design combined with awesome technology reflect the unique sports and glamour DNA that has driven our brand for a century and a half. The unique combination of chronology, themes and legends with sensorial technologies make this museum a new milestone in TAG Heuer innovative history as well as in ways of envisioning 21st century museums as projection into the future rather than nostalgic glimpses into the past."

FW08: Lanvin Men's wear.

Lanvin, Fall, Winter 2008, FW0809

The French men’s fashion scene is unconquered territory. When Hedi was with DH he was close to getting crowned the king until he and DH decided to part ways, leaving Napoleons throne unattended.

Lanvin is slowly winning the people’s heart and with their latest collection they have made me fall to my knees bowing in the presence of greatness. Their fashion shows and collections might not be as theatrical as Kris Van Asche’s latest work for DH, but what they have created this time has been executed with top level articulation and confidence. If they had to redo this AW08 collection I don’t think that they would have done it in a different way. Unlike a few other brands Lanvin design with in style that expresses their assurance over their identity and principles.

Never before has funeral wear looked so sparkling. Claiming that the entire colour spectrum has been covered would be a lie, but despite the primary usage of black there is no lack in personality here. Every outfit shines with a polar star on it and overall Lanvin are doing a good job strengthening their brand image.

I won’t be able to afford anything from this collection.

Grade: 5/5 Spot on and probably the best I've from any designer ever. Simply the Concordé of fashion this season. Viva la Lanvin!
